As I envisioned launching my own shop, my primary desire was to curate a collection of delightful items. However, as my aspirations began to materialise, I felt a growing responsibility to consider the environmental impact of my business. I recognized the importance of offering high-quality products that customers could cherish for years, avoiding the cycle of quick disposal. This commitment evolved to embrace a range of lovely items crafted from upcycled, recycled, or recyclable materials. Moreover, I sought to collaborate with ethical British businesses, ones that uphold strong values and prioritize Fair Trade policies, supporting communities across the globe. Here's a glimpse into some of these remarkable enterprises.

Boult Designs is a tribute to the Scottish landscape and its remarkable wildlife, channelling inspiration from the majestic hills and glens while embracing a deep commitment to conservation. Founded by Jamie Boult and fuelled by a passion for sustainability, their creations reflect the Scottish moors and highlands. Handcrafted in a workshop nestled in the heart of the Scottish Highlands, each piece tells a unique story. They prioritise ethical sourcing by obtaining materials from local estates and creatively upcycling waste products into stunning everyday items, bridging elegance with eco-consciousness.

Award winning Eriskay Candles offer a luxurious and environmentally conscious sensory experience. Their hand-poured candles are crafted using 100% sustainable Rapeseed wax, guaranteeing a clean and eco-friendly burn. They prioritize ethical values by being vegan-friendly, GMO-free, and cruelty-free. To further enhance your candle experience, they use spun cotton and paper weaved wicks, reducing soot and ensuring a healthier, cleaner, and consistent burn. Based on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Scotland, all their candles are meticulously poured in their dedicated work studio. Eriskay take pride in being a minimal waste, eco-friendly company, sourcing ingredients and packaging locally to minimize carbon footprint, making them easily recyclable or great to repurpose.

Finally, for now, let me tell you about Tilnar Art: driven by a mission to support disadvantaged producers in the developing world they are procuring high-quality, ethically sourced, and eco-friendly products. As a small, family-operated business, they form meaningful partnerships with individual artisans, co-operatives, and small businesses, making upfront payments for materials, which empowers suppliers to invest in raw materials without incurring debts. Their commitment to sustainability includes minimizing their environmental impact by handcrafting all items, eschewing machinery and air freight, and opting for sea transportation to reduce carbon footprint. A significant portion of the collection comprises recycled, natural, or re-used materials, exemplified in the thoughtfully curated Meg Hawkins & Azeti Recycled Aluminium Collections, both of which you will find at From Suzie’s.
